When we say death, our first impression of this term is something associated with fear and sadness. This is a normal feeling of man the way he loves a certain thing. The same reaction of Peter when he heard Jesus's prediction concerning his death that said;
Peter then over reacted and rebuke Jesus saying..." Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee." Mat 16:22. But guess what Jesus' response to him, " Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men ".Mat 16:23. Here we see the spiritual mind of Jesus which is in contrast to the thoughts of men. He did not accept Peter's emotional care but rather call him a Satan. It is evident that Peter did not understand the heavenly purpose of Christ of why he must be crucified. Suppose to be instead of defending Jesus to get killed, they must rejoice if those things will happen.
Question: Do you really know why Jesus died on the cross?
Before he was born, Abraham the father of all nations has shown us already the perfect offering of sins the day he almost killed his only begotten son Isaac to be offered. It was the shadow of things to come and has been clearly seen when Jesus was condemned to death in first century.
Touching the tradition of the Jews, every year they have a feast to fulfill. They were obliged to offer a burned offering to the Lord for the remission of sins.
And this is the manner of offering to the Lord;
But those bloods are not enough to cover up their sins.
Thus God has decided to give up his son Jesus Christ for their sake. And was written of how is it done as Isaiah tells that Jesus shall sacrifice in this way;
Isaiah 53:2-12:
In Psalms: 22:13-18
And it was fulfilled:
In Matthew 27:27-39
In John 19:33-37
Those are the details of how Jesus suffered and died on the cross. For what reason? The Bible says; his blood is for the remission of sins that are past and that he might deliver us from this evil world. This gift is not limited to them in first century Christians but also for us in the whole world.
Now, why are you mourning of his death today instead of rejoicing that you are cleansed by his blood. To be cleared, we are not like Peter who did not yet understand the purpose of his death, but we are now witnessing the fulfilled plans of God as it is all completely written in the Bible. So have faith on it and make some real mourning. Remember what Jesus said to Peter; " Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men ".

When we say death, our first impression of this term is something associated with fear and sadness. This is a normal feeling of man the way he loves a certain thing. The same reaction of Peter when he heard Jesus's prediction concerning his death that said;
- Mat 20:18 Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, 19 And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.
- Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Touching the tradition of the Jews, every year they have a feast to fulfill. They were obliged to offer a burned offering to the Lord for the remission of sins.
- Lev 23:7 In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein. 8 But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD seven days: in the seventh day is an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
And this is the manner of offering to the Lord;
- Exo 29:16 And thou shalt slay the ram, and thou shalt take his blood, and sprinkle it round about upon the altar. 17 And thou shalt cut the ram in pieces, and wash the inwards of him, and his legs, and put them unto his pieces, and unto his head.18 And thou shalt burn the whole ram upon the altar: it is a burnt offering unto the LORD: it is a sweet savour, an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
But those bloods are not enough to cover up their sins.
- Hebrews 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
Thus God has decided to give up his son Jesus Christ for their sake. And was written of how is it done as Isaiah tells that Jesus shall sacrifice in this way;
Isaiah 53:2-12:
- He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him;
- he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
- he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
- he was wounded for our transgressions
- he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
- He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
- He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
- And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
- Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
- He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied:
- he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors;
- and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
In Psalms: 22:13-18
- They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.
- I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint:
- my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.
- My strength is dried up like a potsherd;
- my tongue cleaveth to my jaws
- thou hast brought me into the dust of death.
- For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.
- I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.
- They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.
And it was fulfilled:
In Matthew 27:27-39
- Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.
- And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.
- And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!
- And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.
- And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.
- They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.
- And they crucified him
- and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet
- And sitting down they watched him there;
- And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
- And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads,
- Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
In John 19:33-37
- But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs: 34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. 35 And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe. 36 For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken. 37 And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.
Those are the details of how Jesus suffered and died on the cross. For what reason? The Bible says; his blood is for the remission of sins that are past and that he might deliver us from this evil world. This gift is not limited to them in first century Christians but also for us in the whole world.
- Matthew 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
- Romans 3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
- 1 Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
- Galatians 1:4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:
- 1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our's only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
