Old Things Are Become New

This passage of 2 Corinthians five, is quite simple, and clearly informs us that we are NEW PEOPLE of God through Christ. But the question here is: what are those old things that are passed away and become new?
In this chapter, the apostle Paul is comforting believers and said unto them that they should not to worry of the coming destruction of the “earthly house”. And take note that at this moment of his ministry, Christ was already ascended in heaven and preparing for the coming judgment.
In this view, the coming destruction of the earthly house shall occur at the coming judgment of the nation Israel when Christ comes.
When Paul said;
2. House not made with hands – in the heaven
He knows what will happen in the future and defending that if their earthly house (made with hands) were dissolved, there is a replacement to it which is a heavenly one (a house not made with hands). But why is it Paul so defensive and where did he refer this coming destruction? I believe it is because Christ had warned them that on his coming again, the temple in Jerusalem which they built in forty six years will be destroyed. And of course together with the Law it will vanish away.
Historically, this prophecy was fulfilled in 70 AD. The entire city of Jerusalem and the temple were demolished by Romans thoroughly laid even with the ground. And Israel became desolate in the face of the earth.
Therefore; it was the old Temple of Jerusalem and the Law that passed away.
Now what happen to the people of God at this time? Again, according to Paul he said;
No more burned offering and sacrifice
No more animal's blood sprinkling
No more atonement
No more Passover
No more observing Sabbath day
No more judging in meats
No more stoning
No more tithes
And these are the things that replace them:
Jesus Christ was the offering and sacrifice
The Blood of Christ on the cross
Through Christ we received the atonement
Christ did sacrifice the passover for us and now our unleavened bread is the sincerity and truth
Freedom of days and meats
Loving our enemy
Giving as purposed in our hearts

- Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17

In this chapter, the apostle Paul is comforting believers and said unto them that they should not to worry of the coming destruction of the “earthly house”. And take note that at this moment of his ministry, Christ was already ascended in heaven and preparing for the coming judgment.
- For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. 2Co 5:10
In this view, the coming destruction of the earthly house shall occur at the coming judgment of the nation Israel when Christ comes.
When Paul said;
- For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2Co 5:1

I believe it is because Christ had warned them that on his coming again, the temple in Jerusalem which they built in forty six years will be destroyed. And of course together with the Law it will vanish away.
- Mat 24:1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
Historically, this prophecy was fulfilled in 70 AD. The entire city of Jerusalem and the temple were demolished by Romans thoroughly laid even with the ground. And Israel became desolate in the face of the earth.

No more animal's blood sprinkling
No more atonement
No more Passover
No more observing Sabbath day
No more judging in meats
No more stoning
No more tithes
And these are the things that replace them:
Jesus Christ was the offering and sacrifice
- Ephesians 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
The Blood of Christ on the cross
- Colossians 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
Through Christ we received the atonement
- Romans 5:11And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
Christ did sacrifice the passover for us and now our unleavened bread is the sincerity and truth
- 1Co 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: 8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
Freedom of days and meats
- Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Loving our enemy
- Mat 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Giving as purposed in our hearts
- 2 Corinthians 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
